I am an industrial designer with twenty years of experience. The work shown here ranges from industrial and product designs to personal accessories and jewelry, all rooted in a strong design process with a focus on form. This portfolio includes projects completed during full time, as well as freelance employment for a range of retail and to-the-trade companies.
My path to design was circuitous. My undergraduate dreams included medical school, and when I did not get accepted, I was forced to reevaluate. I realized I had an opportunity to pursue a more creative career, and attended the Corcoran School of Art to complete a foundation program in design. A pivotal job for STUDIOS Architecture in Washington, DC introduced me to the world of architecture and industrial design, and I was hooked.
After moving back to the NYC area to attend Pratt Institute for a Master in Industrial Design degree, I worked as a tabletop designer for west elm and then as Product Design Director for world renowned designer Clodagh. During these experiences, I traveled extensively worldwide and gained a vast knowledge of production and manufacturing processes.
I have a profound appreciation of beauty, whether in nature, products or systems, and seek both beauty and pragmatism in my work. My passion flows into the classroom, where Iām an adjunct professor of industrial design at currently at Montclair State University. With a focus on Manufacturing & Materials, Form Language, and Sustainability, I help students merge creative and technical skills so they can become productive members of the design community.
